Joe Biden Hijacks Jill’s Big Night with ‘Awkward’ Stage Moment (Video)

Former President Joe Biden turned Jill Biden’s big book launch into an awkward family spectacle Tuesday night after he unexpectedly walked toward the stage and interrupted her conversation with Whoopi Goldberg.

Jill Biden, 75, was wrapping up a Q&A at the 92nd Street Y in New York City for her new memoir, A View from the East Wing, when Biden, 83, rose from the audience and wandered toward the front of the room.

Then came the cringe.

“I have a question,” Biden said without a microphone as security stood nearby.

Jill quickly tried to laugh it off.

“Joe has a question, like you couldn’t ask it later?” she asked.

But Biden pressed ahead anyway, turning his wife’s carefully staged book event into a bizarre spotlight-grabbing moment.

“Who do you love most in the whole world?” he asked.

Jill fired back with a joke: “Whoopi.”

The audience laughed, but Biden appeared to keep standing there, seemingly waiting for the answer he wanted.

Finally, Jill gave in.

“I love you most, Joe,” she said. “Was that it? Was that the answer he wanted?”

The strange exchange only got more awkward from there.

As Goldberg tried to bring the event to a close and promote Jill’s book, Biden remained near the stage. Then he appeared to try plugging his own upcoming book.

“My book,” Biden began, before someone finally handed him a microphone. “My book, which comes out in September, read it…”

Jill joked, “Do I have to remind him that this is my event?”

Biden then offered a compliment that landed just as oddly.

“The only thing that Jill does better than write, she’s a beautiful woman,” he said before the event finally ended.

Earlier in the evening, Jill had discussed heavier topics, including Biden’s prostate cancer diagnosis, his disastrous final debate performance, and the White House years she writes about in her memoir.

Biden was diagnosed with Stage IV prostate cancer in May 2025 after leaving office. Jill told the audience that while he looked “handsome as ever,” his cancer treatments had been difficult.

But the night’s most talked-about moment may not be anything from Jill’s book.

Instead, it was Biden once again stepping into the frame, turning a polished book launch into a deeply uncomfortable viral moment.
