Airport Bus Crash Leaves Passengers Seriously Injured

Multiple people were injured early Monday after an employee shuttle bus smashed into a concrete barrier at Newark Liberty International Airport, leaving the front of the vehicle badly mangled.

The frightening crash happened around 3 a.m. on Aug. 31 on the Terminal B departures roadway at Level 3, according to the Port Authority.

The shuttle was carrying airport employees when it suddenly struck the concrete barrier.

Emergency crews, including Port Authority Police, rushed to the scene following the impact.

Authorities have not revealed exactly how many people were injured, but some of the victims reportedly suffered serious injuries. Officials said all of those hurt are expected to survive.

Video from the scene showed the shuttle with its windshield completely shattered and extensive damage along the right side of the vehicle.

The crash also left debris scattered across the roadway, forcing officials to temporarily shut down the area while emergency crews worked to clear the wreckage.

It remains unclear what caused the driver to crash into the barrier.

The Port Authority said the circumstances surrounding the accident remain under investigation.
