Elderly Man Slaps Turning Point Volunteer at Polling Place (Video)

A shocking Election Day confrontation in New Hampshire turned violent Tuesday when an elderly man slapped an 18-year-old Turning Point Action volunteer across the face, with the disturbing encounter captured on video.

The incident unfolded outside Woodland Heights Elementary School in Laconia, where the young conservative activist was helping with voter outreach during the November 3 midterm elections.

Video circulating on social media shows the visibly furious older man confronting the teenager, shouting profanities and pointing angrily in his face during a heated political argument.

“You have no idea who I am, so how dare you say I don’t know much,” the man snapped.

The teenager, identified by local media as Rainer Vesey of Connecticut, appeared to remain composed as he challenged the man’s argument, saying he had not presented a single statistic.

The confrontation quickly escalated.

“You sit there and dare to look me in the face and say I don’t know anything?” the older man shouted before raising his middle finger, stepping toward the teenager and striking him across the mouth with the back of his hand.

The man then walked away as shocked bystanders called for police.

Turning Point Action, the conservative organization founded by the late Charlie Kirk, shared the footage on X and condemned the attack.

“An 18-year-old stood his ground at the polls in New Hampshire today and was assaulted for it,” the organization wrote.

Laconia Police Chief Matt Canfield confirmed that officers responded to the Ward 5 polling location shortly after 3 p.m. following reports of an assault.

“It wasn’t a brush,” Canfield told The Laconia Daily Sun, emphasizing that the strike appeared intentional.

Police have identified the older man and plan to interview him as part of their investigation. No charges had been filed as of Tuesday afternoon, and authorities were still gathering statements from witnesses and those involved.

Laconia Mayor Mike Bordes, a Republican, condemned the attack after visiting the polling location and speaking with the young volunteer.

“We can agree to disagree, but physical assault on someone is unacceptable anywhere,” Bordes said.

The incident also raised questions about the treatment of conservative campaign workers outside polling locations. Canfield said police had received a separate concern about where Turning Point representatives were positioned, but determined the organization had not violated electioneering rules.

The Belknap County Republican Committee denounced the violence, declaring that attacks on people participating in the democratic process would not be tolerated. The county’s Democratic committee also condemned political violence.

The confrontation came as Turning Point Action mounted a major Election Day operation across New Hampshire, a closely watched battleground featuring a competitive U.S. Senate race.

For Republicans, the video has become a troubling example of how quickly political disagreements can turn into personal confrontations, even outside a place where Americans are exercising their right to vote.

Authorities have not publicly established the older man’s political affiliation or what happened before the recorded exchange.

The investigation remains ongoing, with police still determining whether criminal charges will follow.
