Faye Hall, an American woman held hostage by the Taliban for nearly two months, is finally free — and she’s thanking one man for it: Donald J. Trump.
Hall, who was detained in early February under murky circumstances, walked free on Thursday following a surprise diplomatic maneuver by the former President. According to diplomatic sources, Trump negotiated Hall’s release by removing multimillion-dollar bounties placed on key Taliban leaders — including Sirajuddin Haqqani, the Taliban’s Interior Minister and a longtime U.S. target.
“I’m glad you’re the President,” Hall said in a video from Kabul’s Qatari Embassy. “I’ve never been so proud to be an American. Thank you, Mr. President.”
Trump, responding on Truth Social, said simply: “Thank you Faye — So honored with your words!”
Trump Moves, Taliban Blinks
The release, first reported by The Telegraph, was not part of any formal treaty. Instead, it followed a quiet but forceful agreement: the U.S., under Trump’s direction, lifted rewards on three senior Haqqani Network operatives, which some intelligence officials believe directly pressured the Taliban to act.
Sirajuddin Haqqani had carried a $10 million bounty on his head through the State Department’s Rewards for Justice program.
Though the Biden White House has remained silent, Fox News sources say Hall’s release was orchestrated through Qatar, which has served as America’s “protecting power” in Taliban-controlled Afghanistan since 2021.
Arrested Alongside British Couple
Hall was arrested on February 1 alongside a British humanitarian couple, Peter and Barbie Reynolds, ages 79 and 75. The couple operated educational programs for Afghan women and children through their nonprofit “Rebuild.” Their interpreter was also taken into custody.
A British newspaper, The Sunday Times, reported that their work included literacy and childcare initiatives — activities now viewed as dangerous under the Taliban’s hardline restrictions on women.
It remains unclear how Hall was connected to the couple or their organization. However, British sources told The Telegraph that the detentions were “purely political,” a tactic by rival Taliban factions seeking to undermine Supreme Leader Haibatullah Akhundzada and pressure the group’s more moderate wing.
In a heartbreaking letter, the Reynolds’ children had pleaded for their parents’ release:
“They have chosen Afghanistan as their home,” the letter read. “They wish to spend the rest of their lives there.”
Second Hostage Freed in Two Weeks
Hall’s release comes just days after George Glezmann, a 65-year-old American tourist abducted in Kabul in 2022, was also released. That deal, also brokered by Trump and Qatari intermediaries, ended more than two years of captivity for Glezmann.
His daughter, Aedis Laveau, told America Reports: “We’re overjoyed. We never gave up hope — and President Trump didn’t either.”
Pattern of Results — But Questions Remain
While the Biden administration oversaw the earlier release of two Americans this year — Ryan Corbett and William McKenty — that deal involved a direct exchange for a Taliban fighter in U.S. custody. Critics blasted it as a dangerous precedent.
In contrast, the Trump-brokered releases appear to rely more on calculated leverage than giveaways.
Still, not everyone is cheering. The State Department has yet to confirm whether the bounty removal was temporary, permanent, or part of a broader shift in U.S. policy.
As of now, at least one American remains in Taliban custody. Advocacy groups are calling for immediate answers.
For Hall and her family, the message is simple: “Freedom is priceless — and so is leadership that delivers it.”

Biden would have turned his back and left her to rot
What is wrong with Faye Hall’s fingertips? They appear odd all ten. Guessing she may have been torchered in some manor.
Thank you
