In a deeply disturbing crime that has rocked a Fort Worth neighborhood, a 23-year-old Texas man is accused of murdering his own mother and her pet dog in what he chillingly described as an “exorcism” — before sharing photos of the gruesome aftermath on Snapchat.
Police say Alexander Taylor Valdez was drenched in blood and clutching a Bible when they arrived at his home, responding to a frantic 911 call from a horrified friend who had seen photos of the carnage sent to a Snapchat group chat.
According to the police affidavit, Valdez calmly emerged from the house and took a seat on the porch — blood smeared across his body — before making a jaw-dropping confession.
“It was an exorcism,” he allegedly told officers. “I was doing witchcraft to kill my mom.”
Inside the home, officers discovered the battered body of 58-year-old Tersita Sayson, Valdez’s mother, in the master bedroom. She had suffered severe trauma to her face and upper body. Nearby, they also found the family dog — also beaten to death.
The bedroom was soaked in blood, with investigators noting splatters on the walls and floor. A broken jewelry box, embedded with both hair and blood, was recovered at the scene.
“It looked like something out of a horror movie,” one local officer told a source close to the investigation. “And what makes it worse — he shared it on social media like it was nothing.”
Valdez reportedly sent a photo of the slain woman and dog to a group of friends via Snapchat, showing blood-covered carpets and walls. One friend who received the image immediately called 911 and warned others not to open the message.
“It was beyond sick,” said a source familiar with the investigation. “No one should ever have to see something like that, let alone from someone they thought was a friend.”
Valdez was arrested at the scene but invoked his right to remain silent after requesting a lawyer. He’s currently charged with murder and being held in Tarrant County Jail on a $750,000 bond.
According to police, Valdez had recently expressed growing interest in occult practices and supernatural rituals. Friends reported increasingly erratic behavior, but no one imagined it would escalate into deadly violence.
“This wasn’t just murder,” a family acquaintance said. “This was something dark. Evil.”
An autopsy confirmed that Sayson died from blunt force trauma. Authorities are continuing to investigate Valdez’s potential mental state and whether other charges may be added.
As the community reels from the gruesome crime, many are left asking how such evil could fester unnoticed — and why a young man turned against his own mother in the name of something so sinister.
