Former NFL Star Arrested After Draft

NFL legend Adrian Peterson’s night of celebration ended behind bars early Friday morning.

The 40-year-old former Minnesota Vikings running back was arrested just hours after appearing as a special guest at the team’s NFL Draft party at U.S. Bank Stadium. According to Minnesota State Highway Patrol, Peterson was pulled over around 3:20 a.m. for speeding — clocked at a shocking 83 mph in a 55-mph zone.

Troopers quickly suspected more than just a heavy foot. Peterson allegedly showed signs of intoxication, and a breath test revealed a blood alcohol concentration of .14 — nearly twice the legal limit of .08.

The Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Peterson was booked on a fourth-degree misdemeanor DWI charge. He posted a $4,000 bond and was released two hours later. His next court date is set for May 9.

The arrest came just hours after fans cheered Peterson’s return to the stadium where he became a household name. During his decade with the Vikings, Peterson bulldozed his way to seven All-Pro selections, three rushing titles, and the 2012 NFL MVP and Offensive Player of the Year awards.

Many had hoped Thursday night’s event would be a triumphant reminder of Peterson’s greatness — but by Friday morning, the headlines had shifted to shame.

Peterson’s fall from grace comes as a gut punch to many Vikings fans who still remember him as the fierce warrior who racked up over 2,000 yards in a single season, carrying a struggling team on his back. In today’s NFL, where character counts more than ever, this arrest is another painful reminder that heroes off the field can stumble.

Law enforcement officials haven’t released further details on the stop, but sources told TMZ Sports that Peterson was cooperative during the arrest.

It’s not the first time Peterson has made news for the wrong reasons. In 2014, he was indicted on child abuse charges after disciplining his son with a switch, sparking a national controversy over parenting and corporal punishment. He later pleaded no contest to a lesser charge of misdemeanor reckless assault.

Once seen as the heart and soul of the Vikings, Peterson’s legacy now faces fresh scrutiny.

As Minnesota gears up for a new NFL season, one of its brightest stars is facing a dark chapter — again.
