Biden Plans Comeback with Risky Return to ‘The View’

After months of silence and dwindling public relevance, Joe Biden is plotting a return to the political spotlight — and he’s doing it on The View.

The former president, 82, is set to appear live next Thursday on the controversial daytime show alongside his wife Jill, in what ABC is billing as their “first interview since leaving the White House.” The announcement came Thursday via co-host Whoopi Goldberg, a longtime Biden ally and progressive firebrand.

“We’re honored to welcome former President Biden and First Lady Dr. Jill Biden,” Goldberg declared, previewing softball questions about his “legacy” and “accomplishments.”

But critics aren’t buying the staged reunion.

“This is nothing more than a media rehab tour disguised as morning TV,” said GOP strategist Daniel LeClaire. “Biden wrecked the economy, emboldened China, and helped fuel record inflation — now he wants to relitigate his failures on a couch next to Joy Behar?”

A Carefully Choreographed Comeback

Biden’s upcoming appearance follows a rare public speech earlier this month in Chicago, where he addressed the Advocates, Counselors, and Representatives for the Disabled — and took a familiar jab at Donald Trump.

“Trump took a hatchet to Social Security,” Biden claimed in front of a lukewarm crowd. But the speech made headlines not for its policy, but for Biden’s outdated and offensive language.

Describing his childhood in Scranton, he told the audience, “I remember seeing the kids going by at the time, called colored kids on a bus…”

The cringe-inducing remark sparked immediate backlash.

“You’d think after 50 years in politics, he’d know better,” Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) told reporters. “But this is Joe Biden. He’s always been gaffe-prone — and totally out of touch.”

Even some Democrats are cringing behind the scenes. One former Biden campaign aide told Politico, “It takes a special level of chutzpah as the man who helped reelect Trump to now believe he is the missing voice in this political moment.”

Damage Control in Daytime TV

The move to The View is being seen as a strategic attempt to soften Biden’s image before the 2026 midterms — or even position Jill Biden as a media presence of her own.

“Jill’s going to try to help Joe through this,” said a White House insider, speaking anonymously. “She’s been more politically active since he left office, and this interview may be as much about her as it is about him.”

But Republican operatives are welcoming the spotlight. “Let him talk,” said RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel. “Every time Biden opens his mouth, Americans remember why they voted for President Trump.”

A Cold Reception Post-Presidency

Since leaving office, Biden has largely retreated from public view. He’s popped up at a Model U.N. conference, a St. Patrick’s Day brunch, and a labor union banquet — where he was handed a lifetime achievement trophy. But even longtime supporters have noticed his absence.

Asked by CNN if they’d heard from Biden since January 2025, one Democratic donor responded simply: “No. Thank God.”

Now, with the 2026 political season warming up, insiders say Biden’s team is testing the waters.

“His people think he can reframe his legacy,” one D.C. operative told The Hill. “But the public remembers the border crisis, the botched Afghanistan withdrawal, and skyrocketing costs under his watch. It’s too little, too late.”

White House Pokes Fun

Even President Trump’s press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, couldn’t resist a jab. “I’m shocked that he’s speaking at night,” she joked after Biden’s recent speech. “I thought his bedtime was earlier.”

As Biden gears up for his friendly sit-down on The View, Republicans are preparing their own counter-narratives. With Trump firmly back in office and leading confidently into 2026, many in the GOP see Biden’s talk show revival as little more than an awkward sideshow.

“America moved on,” said Rep. Jim Banks (R-IN). “He should too.”

  1. Dr. Biden and anybody else who signed off on this travesty need to be brought up on charges of elderly abuse.
Never liked the man, but this is ridiculous.
