Tulsi Gabbard Purges ‘Deep State’ Intel Officials, Launches Crackdown on Leaks and Anti-Trump Bias

Washington, D.C. — In a bold move aimed at reclaiming control over a deeply politicized intelligence community, Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard has fired the top brass at the National Intelligence Council and launched a sweeping operation to root out anti-Trump ideologues and classified leakers embedded within the federal bureaucracy.

Gabbard confirmed she dismissed acting NIC Chairman Mike Collins and Deputy Chair Maria Langan-Riekhof on Tuesday, both of whom, according to internal whistleblowers, have long been associated with political activism hostile to President Trump.

“We cannot allow intelligence to be weaponized against the people’s elected leadership,” Gabbard told Fox News Digital. “Those who undermine the integrity of our national security system must be held accountable.”

Exposing the Politicization of Intelligence

According to senior intelligence sources, Collins was tied to efforts to discredit the Hunter Biden laptop story in 2020 by helping push the now-infamous public letter suggesting it had the “hallmarks” of Russian disinformation—a narrative orchestrated with former CIA Deputy Director Michael Morrell and widely seen as an effort to protect then-candidate Joe Biden.

Collins also faces internal complaints of using his role to deliberately “undermine the incoming Trump administration” after the 2024 election. Sources say his close relationship with Obama-era officials raised red flags inside ODNI.

Langan-Riekhof, meanwhile, has been described as an outspoken “diversity czar” with an aggressive agenda aligned with left-wing activism. Whistleblowers say she consistently pushed policies and staffing decisions based on DEI metrics, not national security priorities—and was “vocally opposed” to Trump during both his campaigns.

Gabbard Moves NIC to ODNI to Tighten Oversight

In a structural shakeup, Gabbard also relocated the National Intelligence Council from CIA headquarters to the Office of the Director of National Intelligence to increase direct oversight and dismantle what one insider called the “fog of plausible deniability.”

“Too many career bureaucrats are hiding behind institutional walls to leak, delay, and obstruct,” said one senior official. “That era is over.”

A CIA spokesperson admitted the NIC had always been under ODNI jurisdiction, but Gabbard’s move ensures it’s now physically under ODNI authority—tightening the leash on bureaucratic freelancing and ensuring accountability at the top.

Criminal Referrals and Internal Purge Underway

This purge comes on the heels of three criminal referrals made by Gabbard to the Department of Justice, targeting intelligence officials accused of leaking classified material to The Washington Post and The New York Times. Those cases are now in DOJ’s hands, and more are expected.

Currently, 12 other officials are under active investigation for unauthorized disclosures, including two CIA detailees recently fired for leaking gang-related assessments to the press.

Sources confirm that “multiple non-essential” ODNI offices—described as nests for “deep state leakers”—are being reviewed for dissolution.

New Task Force to Dismantle ‘Weaponized Intel’

In April, Gabbard launched the Director’s Initiative Group (DIG), a new internal strike force aimed at identifying internal sabotage, halting politically motivated leaks, and restoring public trust.

DIG is also preparing to declassify intelligence the public has a right to know—especially regarding previous administrations’ alleged abuse of power.

Gabbard has also taken disciplinary action against NSA employees involved in sexually explicit chatrooms on government time and is reportedly pressing for action against additional staffers implicated in internal misconduct.

Confirmation Roadblocks Frustrate Reform Efforts

Despite the aggressive reforms, key Trump nominees remain stalled in the Senate, frustrating efforts to fully implement the president’s national security agenda. Roles still unconfirmed include deputy director of national intelligence, counterintelligence chief, and general counsel.

“These vacancies are delaying the overhaul voters demanded,” a senior ODNI official said. “The intelligence swamp doesn’t drain itself.”

The Bottom Line

Tulsi Gabbard’s campaign to uproot anti-Trump bias and bring law and order back to America’s intelligence services marks one of the most aggressive internal shakeups in decades. And for many in the GOP, it’s long overdue.

“The intelligence community works for the American people—not against their elected president,” Gabbard said. “This is just the beginning.”
