President Donald Trump is calling for key figures from the Biden administration to testify about what he describes as an unprecedented “silent coup” inside the White House—alleging radical left operatives secretly pulled the strings behind President Joe Biden’s back.
In a fiery interview with Maria Bartiromo on Sunday Morning Futures, Trump didn’t hold back. “Biden was just a puppet,” he declared. “The presidency was hijacked by radical left lunatics who were making executive decisions without him even knowing.”
Trump Targets Lisa Monaco
Trump pointed a finger directly at former Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco, demanding she answer for what he calls one of the most “explosive political scandals in American history.”
“She was a huge supporter of Andrew Weissmann, and both were part of that extreme wing,” Trump said. “They didn’t even trust Biden. And when they realized he couldn’t handle the job, they just took over.”
Monaco, a longtime fixture in Democratic legal circles and a loyal ally of Obama-era prosecutors, was known for her behind-the-scenes role in shaping national security policy. But Trump now accuses her of helping coordinate executive actions without Biden’s involvement—possibly even using the infamous autopen, a machine that can automatically sign the president’s name.
The Autopen Allegations
The autopen, typically used for routine letters and ceremonial documents, is now at the center of what Trump and Republican lawmakers call a “constitutional disaster.” According to Trump, major executive actions—like border policies, transgender mandates, and sports participation rules—were pushed through while Biden was allegedly checked out.
“Joe Biden was never for open borders, never for men competing in women’s sports. He didn’t even understand half of it,” Trump said. “I believe the person using that autopen was, in fact, acting as president.”
Trump has already ordered a formal investigation into the matter and warned that subpoenas are coming.
A Reminder of Biden’s Last Debate
Biden’s apparent mental decline became a political flashpoint after his disoriented performance during his only debate with Trump last year. That disaster reportedly led to his quiet exit from the race and the elevation of then-Vice President Kamala Harris.
“After that debate, everyone knew,” said one senior GOP aide. “It wasn’t just about politics anymore. It was about who was actually running the government.”
White House Pushes Back
In a defensive statement, Biden insisted he was fully in charge during his time in office.
“I made every decision as President. To suggest otherwise is absurd and false,” Biden said. He called Trump’s allegations “a distraction” and accused Republicans of trying to defund essential programs while giving handouts to the wealthy.
But Republican leaders aren’t backing down. House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer has called for public testimony and access to internal White House logs, memos, and digital autopen records.
“We’re talking about a shadow presidency,” Comer said Friday. “The American people deserve to know who was really calling the shots.”
