Kamala Harris Criticized for ‘Gloomy’ July 4 Post

Former Vice President Kamala Harris is facing a firestorm after marking Independence Day with a grim-sounding social media post — and a suspiciously cropped photo that cuts President Joe Biden out of the frame entirely.

“Things are hard right now. They are probably going to get worse before they get better,” Harris posted on X, formerly Twitter, adding, “But I love our country — and when you love something, you fight for it.”

But Americans weren’t inspired. They were baffled — and in many cases, infuriated.

The Image That Sparked a Fireworks-Sized Backlash

Harris attached an image showing her and second gentleman Doug Emhoff watching the 2024 fireworks from the White House balcony. What she left out? The other half of the stage: President Biden and First Lady Jill, who had been standing just feet away.

Political observers didn’t miss it.

“Kamala cropping Joe out is very symbolic,” said Link Lauren, a former senior adviser to Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s presidential campaign. “There’s no such thing as an accidental crop in a political post.”

Others online took note of a rogue elbow barely visible on the photo’s edge.

“Whose elbow is that on the right?” one X user mocked. “Did Joe get digitally ghosted?”

‘Things Are Going to Get Worse’? On the 4th?

While Americans lit grills and fireworks, Harris lit up social media with what some called the “most depressing 4th of July message ever.”

“Feeling grateful we didn’t end up with a President who posts ‘things are gonna get worse’ on the 4th of July,” said RNC spokeswoman Kiersten Pels.

Radio host Mark Simone went further:

“Kamala sets a new record for the worst 4th of July message ever. It’s like she’s allergic to optimism.”

A Quiet Collapse?

Harris has largely been out of the spotlight since suffering a landslide defeat to Donald Trump in the 2024 presidential election. After President Biden stepped aside, Harris was soundly rejected by voters — losing all seven swing states and failing to ignite her party.

Since then, she’s been mostly silent, with only a few scattered appearances, including a rambling April speech in San Francisco attacking Trump’s economic and immigration policies — though she avoided mentioning him by name.

Public sentiment reflects her downward trajectory. An Emerson College poll in May showed Harris with just 13% support among Democrats for the 2028 nomination — behind even Pete Buttigieg, who washed out of the 2020 race before Super Tuesday.

In November, Harris still held 37% support in that same poll. But that number has cratered.

“She went from presumptive heir to political deadweight in less than a year,” said conservative strategist Kara Jameson. “That’s not easy to do.”

2028? Don’t Count Her Out Yet

Still, Harris’s July 4 language about “fighting” led some to speculate she’s prepping for another run — or at least testing the waters.

“She’s definitely running in 2028,” one user wrote.
“And please run again,” mocked Trump ally Mike Davis. “Don’t stop fighting, Kamala.”

Insiders close to Harris told Politico she plans to decide on her next move — whether a presidential bid or a possible run for governor of California — by the end of this summer.

But based on the reaction to her latest post, it’s clear: Kamala Harris has a messaging problem — and her Fourth of July flop may have just confirmed what many Americans already suspect.

She’s out of touch, out of favor, and possibly out of time.

  1. She forgets she’s not V President anymore . We have a new administration. The doom and gloom is gone. Sent from my iPhone

  2. I thought her campaign was all about JOY? Her comment is wishful thinking. She, & her other liberal cohorts would rather the legal US citizens suffer than for Trump to make our lives better. THAT is who Dems are now, spiteful, egotistical and selfish.

  3. I completely agree the doom and gloom is going away quickly as the Democrats are running out of bald face lies to spread around this great Country. Make American Great Again. We Love America and thank God we were born in the USA and that God was watching over President Trump and spared him from not being killed on not one time but two times. Thank you Lord.

  4. “Things are hard right now. They are probably going to get worse before they get better,” Harris posted on X,     This is the truth. She should be applauded for telling the truth for a change.

  5. She could make that gloomy comment better by adding
    “ I’m not running for governor “
    10-7

  6. Gas is the lowest price in 4 years. Gee, whats changed Kamala? the only gloom for you is that America knows it made the right choice.
