Whoopi Snaps: “Damn You” to Leftists Mocking Texas Flood Victims Who Voted Trump

As central Texas reels from historic Independence Day flooding that has left over 129 dead and more than 160 still missing, some prominent liberals are turning a natural disaster into a political hit job. But not everyone on the Left is joining the pile-on.

On Tuesday’s episode of The View, longtime co-host Whoopi Goldberg tore into progressive voices blaming Trump voters for the tragedy, delivering a rare moment of unity in a sharply divided America.

“Let’s be really clear,” Goldberg said, looking straight into the camera. “You can’t blame anybody for these floods. It’s nobody’s fault. I didn’t do it. You didn’t do it. Has nothing to do with Washington.”

Then she dropped the hammer: “If you’re riding on people’s socials where you should be giving, and you’re saying these kinds of things—damn you. Damn you.”

Floods, Not Politics

The deadly flash floods struck Kerr County and surrounding areas late on July 4, destroying homes, campsites, and entire communities. Among the victims were children attending Camp Mystic, a Christian girls camp in Hunt, Texas, where rescue teams are still searching for the missing.

But instead of calls for aid, social media lit up with blue-check “activists” using the tragedy to dunk on conservative Texans.

“Camp Mystic is a Whites-only, conservative Christian camp,” sneered Slade Perkins, a former Houston city board member, in a now-deleted TikTok video. “They don’t even have a token Asian or Black person.”

Perkins’ public appointment expired in January, but critics say his remarks are part of a broader trend of dehumanizing Trump voters in red states.

Left-wing influencer Ron Filipkowski tweeted: “The people in Texas voted for government services controlled by Donald Trump and Greg Abbott. That is exactly what they’re getting.”

Dr. Christina Propst, a Houston pediatrician and vocal anti-Trumper, took it a step further, writing on social media:
“Kerr County MAGA voted to gut FEMA. They deny climate change. May they get what they voted for. Bless their hearts.”

A Rare Voice of Sanity

Goldberg’s comments came as a surprise from a co-host known for her progressive leanings. But she doubled down.

“This is not light humor,” she said. “This is not how we do in America. We show up for whoever is in trouble. We don’t ask, ‘Who did you vote for?’ We just show up.”

Political commentator Brandon Tatum praised Goldberg’s outburst as a “rare moment of moral clarity from daytime TV.”

“This should not be a political issue,” Tatum posted. “Kids are missing. Families are devastated. Thank you, Whoopi, for saying what needed to be said.”

President Trump Responds

President Trump addressed the floods during a press briefing Tuesday afternoon, calling for unity and vowing swift federal assistance.

“Texans are resilient. We will rebuild, and we will help every American affected—regardless of their politics,” Trump said from the White House podium. “What happened in Texas is a tragedy, and anyone mocking the dead or injured should be ashamed.”

FEMA has already deployed over 1,500 personnel to the flood zone, with National Guard units continuing search and rescue operations across Kerr County.

Despite the president’s call for unity, left-wing backlash persists online.

But as floodwaters recede, what’s rising is a troubling glimpse at how far some will go to score political points—even on the backs of disaster victims.
