With President Donald Trump firmly back in the White House and delivering on a bold second-term agenda, Democrats are scrambling—and self-destructing—in the shadow of their own past failures.
A new report from The Washington Post reveals rising panic within the Democratic Party as former President Joe Biden and his failed VP Kamala Harris refuse to exit the stage, just months after their devastating defeat in 2024. Instead of paving the way for a new generation of leadership, the Democratic old guard continues to dominate headlines—dragging the party’s image down with them.
“Democrats are eager to turn the page,” the Post concedes, “but their central figures from the last election keep stepping back into the spotlight.”
Biden Doubles Down on Attacks While Harris Hypes Book About Failure
Biden, now a political relic, reemerged this week at the National Bar Association’s gala in Chicago to accuse Trump of “dismantling the Constitution”—a claim that left even some Democrats cringing. Kamala Harris, meanwhile, is promoting her new book 107 Days, a memoir chronicling her humiliating 2024 campaign collapse.
The irony? Both were rejected by voters—yet they still refuse to leave the stage.
Hunter Biden Reappears—And Democrats Cringe
As if that weren’t enough, Hunter Biden is back too. According to the Post, the president’s scandal-plagued son has launched a podcast tour to “settle scores,” lashing out at everyone from political consultants to George Clooney. His legal issues, which plagued Democrats throughout 2024, are once again front and center.
“No one needs to hear from Hunter Biden,” said Matt Bennett, co-founder of the centrist Democrat group Third Way. “Literally no one.”
A Party in Disarray—With No Clear Path Forward
The mood within Democrat ranks is grim. Strategists warn that rehashing the 2024 disaster could cripple their chances of building momentum for 2028. But with Biden, Harris, and Hunter sucking up all the oxygen, the party’s bench remains empty and sidelined.
“The core reason the Democratic Party is in the position it is in today is because no new figures, no new ideas, have been allowed to rise up,” admitted Cooper Teboe, a Silicon Valley-based Democratic strategist.
Names like Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear, Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker, and Arizona Sen. Ruben Gallego have been floated—but they remain mostly unknown outside political circles.
DNC Leadership Shrugs Off the Problem
Even Democratic National Committee chairman Ken Martin seems resigned.
“Do I have a time machine? No,” Martin said. “What good does it serve me to answer whether Joe Biden should’ve stepped down?”
That kind of non-answer has only deepened frustrations inside the party.
2028: A Looming Civil War
Democratic strategist Steve Schale put it bluntly: “We can’t move on until we fight over who gets to turn the page.”
Translation: Buckle up. The Democrats are gearing up for a brutal civil war in 2028—and if the past is any indication, the same failed faces may be leading the charge.
Meanwhile, President Trump continues delivering results Americans voted for: securing the border, rebuilding the economy, and restoring global strength. As Democrats flounder in the shadows of their own dysfunction, Republicans are focused on winning the future.
