Gal Gadot Blames Disney’s “Snow White” Flop on Hollywood’s Pressure to Attack Israel

Disney’s latest live-action gamble, Snow White, bombed at the box office — and Gal Gadot says the reason is bigger than bad acting or weak scripts. The Israeli actress is pointing to Hollywood’s growing hostility toward Israel, warning that the entertainment industry is being “held hostage by political correctness and anti-Israel pressure campaigns.”

The film, headlined by 24-year-old Rachel Zegler and Gadot as the Evil Queen, was supposed to revive Disney’s box office dominance. Instead, it debuted with just $43 million against a bloated $270 million production budget. Critics shredded it, audiences stayed away, and Disney shareholders were left stunned.

“This movie was supposed to be a huge success,” Gadot, 40, admitted in a recent interview. “But then October 7 happened, and suddenly the pressure in Hollywood was not to stand with Israel, but to attack it. That changed everything.”

The comments are reigniting chatter about on-set tensions between Gadot and Zegler. While Gadot has long been outspoken in her support of Israel, Zegler openly championed the Palestinian cause while promoting the film, sharing social media posts that portrayed Israel as the aggressor.

That sparked outrage across the globe, and Gadot says she was personally targeted. “I received death threats. Disney had to increase security for my family,” she revealed.

The date Gadot referenced was the bloody Hamas terror attack on Israel in 2023, when over 1,200 people were slaughtered and hundreds more taken hostage. The attack marked the beginning of a war that continues to this day.

For Gadot, who served in the Israel Defense Forces before becoming a Hollywood star, the response in America was shocking. “Never did I imagine that in U.S. cities, people would not condemn Hamas, but celebrate and justify their massacre of Jews,” she said at a 2024 Anti-Defamation League summit.

Gadot argues that this climate directly hurt Snow White. “There’s a lot of pressure on celebrities to speak out against Israel,” she explained. “If you don’t, you’re targeted. If you do, you’re vilified. Either way, it affects your career.”

Her claim taps into a larger conversation about the politicization of Hollywood under President Trump’s second term. Conservatives have long accused the entertainment industry of pushing left-wing narratives while silencing dissenting voices.

On social media, many conservatives rallied behind Gadot, blasting Disney for its “woke” casting choices and “political activism” that overshadowed storytelling. “People don’t pay $20 a ticket to hear lectures about Palestine,” one commentator wrote. “They just want to see a good movie.”

Meanwhile, industry insiders say Disney’s obsession with social justice messaging has backfired. “Snow White should’ve been a family-friendly blockbuster,” one Hollywood producer told a trade paper. “Instead, it turned into a political circus.”

For Gadot, the lesson is clear: “Hollywood has lost touch with everyday Americans. They don’t want propaganda. They want entertainment.”

And for Disney, the flop may serve as a warning. With audiences increasingly rejecting politically charged content, the studio’s future could depend on whether it can escape the very “woke” pressures that turned Snow White into one of the most spectacular box office disasters of the decade.
