Andrea Bocelli ‘Serenades’ Trump in the Oval Office (Video)

It was a rare off-note from one of the world’s most beloved voices — and President Trump couldn’t have cared less.

Andrea Bocelli, the legendary Italian tenor and close friend of Trump, delivered an impromptu rendition of his signature ballad “Time to Say Goodbye” during a private Oval Office visit on Friday. A brief video, posted to X by Trump communications aide Margo Martin, showed Bocelli pausing mid-song after a missed note before laughing it off.

“Even the best hit a flat note once in a while,” Trump reportedly joked afterward, clapping his longtime friend on the shoulder. “Andrea’s voice could move mountains — and it still does.”

A Friendship Years in the Making

Bocelli, 67, has known Trump for years — a relationship that began long before politics entered the equation. In fact, the two first crossed paths in the early 2000s through mutual friends in entertainment and real estate. “They’ve always shared a genuine respect for each other’s success,” said one Trump aide. “President Trump loves classical music — it’s not what people expect, but Bocelli is one of his favorites.”

Their friendship made headlines back in 2016 when rumors swirled that Bocelli might perform at Trump’s inauguration. While the tenor ultimately declined — reportedly to avoid political backlash — Trump made it clear there were no hard feelings. At the time, inaugural chairman Tom Barrack told CNBC, “Andrea and his wife have been friends of Trump since the very beginning. He offered to perform, but Donald told him it wasn’t necessary.”

A Return to the People’s House

Now, with Trump back in the White House in 2025, the pair’s friendship has taken center stage once again. Following Friday’s lighthearted Oval Office performance, Trump confirmed that Bocelli will return to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue on December 5 for an official concert event.

Bocelli is already scheduled to perform at Washington, D.C.’s Capital One Arena nine days later, but this White House appearance will mark his first private performance for Trump since his reelection.

“Music has the power to unite people beyond politics,” Bocelli said in a brief statement. “I’ve always appreciated President Trump’s warmth and hospitality, and I look forward to singing in America’s home once more.”

Setting the Stage for a Star-Studded December

The performance will take place just two days before Trump presides over his second Kennedy Center Honors ceremony since taking leadership of the event earlier this year. This year’s honorees include country icon George Strait, rock legends Kiss, Broadway star Michael Crawford, disco queen Gloria Gaynor, and Hollywood mainstay Sylvester Stallone — a lineup Trump has called “the best in years.”

As for Bocelli’s Oval Office “oops” moment, fans on social media were quick to defend the singer. “He’s human — and still magnificent,” one X user wrote. “Trump cheering him on made it even better.”

For Trump supporters, the moment wasn’t just about music — it was a reminder of a White House once again filled with culture, confidence, and camaraderie.
