Multiple Women Burned in Horrifying Drive-By Acid Attack in Jersey City

Five women were rushed to the hospital after a horrifying drive-by acid attack in Jersey City left them with burns and peeling skin, officials said.

The sickening ambush happened Monday night on Wilkinson Avenue, where authorities say two suspects on a moped rode up and allegedly hurled sulfuric acid at the women while they were inside a vehicle.

Officials believe the attack was targeted and may have stemmed from an earlier dispute.

The victims were taken to local hospitals with injuries that included burns from the corrosive liquid, according to WABC. Thankfully, all five women are expected to survive and were listed in stable condition.

The women have not been publicly identified.

The disturbing scene brought emergency crews and a Jersey City Fire Department Hazmat team to the residential street as authorities worked to secure the area and investigate exactly what was thrown at the victims.

Mayor James Solomon condemned the attack in a statement, calling the violence “horrific” and vowing that police would use every available resource to track down the people responsible.

“My thoughts are with those hurt in this horrific attack, and I want our communities to know that violence like this has absolutely no place on our streets,” Solomon said.

He added that he directed the Jersey City Police Department to work “around the clock” to find the suspects and bring them to justice.

The attack has sparked fresh concern over violent crime and public safety in Democrat-run urban areas, where residents are increasingly being forced to wonder whether even sitting inside a car at night is safe.

No arrests have been made so far.

The investigation remains ongoing.
