Clive Davis’ Final Hours Revealed

Clive Davis spent his final moments surrounded by love.

The legendary music mogul died at 94 after what his rep described as an age-related illness. His death stunned friends and loved ones, especially because those close to him believed he had been improving after recent health problems.

Davis’ longtime partner, Greg Schriefer, 65, was by his side in the final days before his death. The couple had been together for more than two decades.

According to reports, Davis had recently been hospitalized for about a week after suffering what one insider described as a bacterial respiratory infection. Still, friends said they did not realize the end was so near.

One source said Davis had even been talking about attending a show in New York with Schriefer after leaving the hospital.

“He had gotten invited to a show in New York and they wanted to come,” the source said. “Did they see it coming? Who knows. I mean, he was 94 years old.”

Singer Tony Orlando, who had known Davis for years, said he spoke to the record executive shortly before his death and did not think anything seemed seriously wrong.

“I knew he was having some lung issues, respiratory stuff,” Orlando said. “But I didn’t think there was a problem, no.”

Another friend, Randy Edelman, said Davis still seemed like the same driven, energetic force he had always been.

“He seemed fine. There was nothing odd,” Edelman said. “For years, he’s always seemed well. His energy level was always up and he was, of course, always so engrossed in what he did.”

Davis’ death has been especially heartbreaking for Schriefer, who remained a devoted presence in the music icon’s life until the very end.

A friend said the couple’s bond was no secret and described their relationship as deeply loving.

“It’s really sad. He was a great man, but my heart goes out to Greg because they’ve been together so long,” the pal said. “They weren’t a secret.”

The friend added that there was “a lot of love” between Davis and Schriefer, and said Schriefer had been devoted to caring for him.

After Davis’ death, Schriefer released an emotional statement about the man he called his partner, teacher, confidant and best friend.

“For the past 21 years, Clive has been my partner, my greatest source of inspiration, my teacher, my confidant and my best friend,” Schriefer said. “Together we traveled the world, shared countless adventures, celebrated life’s greatest joys and faced life’s challenges side by side. Every day with him was a gift.”

He then revealed the heartbreaking detail of Davis’ final moment.

“I was holding his hand as he took his final breath, surrounded by family and dear friends who loved him deeply,” Schriefer said.

Davis, one of the most powerful and influential figures in music history, helped shape the careers of generations of artists. He is survived by Schriefer and his four children from previous relationships: Fred, Lauren, Mitchell and Doug.
