A wedding celebration in Egypt turned into a nightmare when a 27-year-old groom suddenly collapsed just moments after marrying the woman he loved.
Kyrillos Wadih had been celebrating his marriage surrounded by family and friends in Egypt’s Sohag Governorate when tragedy struck near the end of the ceremony.
According to local reports, the wedding had gone smoothly until Wadih appeared unusually exhausted as the celebration began winding down.
Guests were leaving the wedding hall and heading toward another reception area when Wadih suddenly collapsed while walking beside his new bride.
Stunned relatives and friends rushed to his side and desperately tried to help before the young groom was taken to a nearby hospital.
Doctors later pronounced him dead.
Loved ones believe Wadih suffered a sudden cardiac arrest, although authorities have not publicly confirmed his official cause of death.
The shocking loss left the newlywed’s family and community devastated.
Instead of celebrating the beginning of his married life, relatives and friends were soon gathering for funeral prayers at Abu Seifein Church in Al Kosheh, where mourners paid their final respects.
The heartbreaking case comes just months after another wedding celebration ended in tragedy when a groom was killed in a helicopter crash in Georgia.
Davie Fiji, 25, had just married Jessni Fiji when the newlyweds boarded a Robinson R66 helicopter on May 29 to leave their reception and head toward Atlanta for the start of their honeymoon.
The helicopter crashed into a wooded area near Dawsonville shortly before 10 p.m., killing Davie and the pilot.
Jessni remarkably survived the crash with cuts and bruises.
According to a preliminary National Transportation Safety Board report, no flight plan had been filed before the helicopter took off.
The couple had originally planned to leave their reception around 9:30 p.m., but fog reportedly delayed the trip.
Davie, who was also a pilot, had reportedly expressed concerns about the poor visibility before the helicopter eventually departed.
Investigators said the pilot attempted to climb to a higher altitude to escape the fog before running into trouble.
The aircraft was substantially damaged in the crash.
Both tragedies have drawn attention because what should have been the happiest moments of two young couples’ lives ended instead in sudden and unimaginable heartbreak.
