Dolly Parton’s Hollywood Walk of Fame star has been replaced after vandals allegedly left the country music legend’s beloved landmark badly damaged just days after her death.
The shocking destruction sparked outrage among fans who had transformed Parton’s star into a makeshift memorial, covering the sidewalk with flowers, candles and other tributes following news of her passing.
Photos from the scene showed the Queen of Country’s famous name heavily scratched and barely visible across the star.
Crews quickly descended on the Hollywood Walk of Fame this week, cleaning up the damage and restoring the landmark as fans continued arriving to mourn the music icon.
KNX News reported Wednesday that repairs were underway and that authorities had not identified any suspects connected to the apparent vandalism.
Video from the scene showed workers cleaning and repainting the star before the damaged landmark was ultimately replaced.
However, Hollywood Chamber of Commerce spokesperson Ana Martinez said the star had already been scheduled for repairs because of existing cracks.
Hollywood Historic Trust Executive Director Lily Weiner said officials decided to move up the work following Parton’s death.
The disturbing damage first gained widespread attention after one fan said she brought her daughters to the Walk of Fame to leave flowers and pay their respects — only to find the star trashed.
The woman claimed a custodian told her another woman had kicked candles around the memorial before allegedly using pieces of broken glass to scratch the star.
She also claimed a man later arrived and stole flowers that mourners had left behind.
The mother said she and her daughters then began trying to clean up the star themselves.
Parton received her solo Hollywood Walk of Fame star in 1984, the same year her “Rhinestone” co-star Sylvester Stallone received his.
Decades later, Parton received another star in 2018 alongside fellow “Trio” singers Emmylou Harris and Linda Ronstadt.
The honor made Parton the first woman in the 21st century to have two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Parton died Aug. 25 in Nashville, Tennessee, at the age of 80 following what her family described as a brief battle with cancer.
The country music superstar’s health reportedly declined after the death of her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl Dean, the previous year.
Since her death, fans, celebrities and public figures have flooded social media with tributes celebrating Parton’s extraordinary career and larger-than-life personality.
She was laid to rest beside Dean during a private ceremony in Nashville.
Now, with her Hollywood star restored, fans once again have a place to honor the legendary singer — without the ugly scars left behind by vandals.
