Country Music Stars Raise $24.5 Million for Hurricane Victims

Country superstars Luke Combs and Eric Church gathered a powerhouse lineup of musicians for Saturday’s Concert for Carolina, raising a staggering $24.5 million to aid Hurricane Helene victims across the Carolinas.

Over 82,000 fans filled the Bank of America Stadium, witnessing a night of unforgettable performances and heartwarming moments, underscoring the resilience and generosity of the Carolinas.

The event, organized in less than a month, featured appearances from icons including James Taylor, Keith Urban, Sheryl Crow, Scotty McCreery, and surprise guests Nicole Kidman and Randy Travis. ESPN’s Marty Smith and Barstool Sports’ Caleb Pressley emceed the night, bringing a touch of Southern charm and camaraderie.

Eric Church Unveils Blueprint for the Blue Ridge

North Carolina native Eric Church brought more than music to the stage—he announced plans to rebuild. Through his charity Chief Cares, Church unveiled Blueprint for the Blue Ridge, a mission to construct 100 homes in the communities hardest hit by the hurricane.

“These are hard-working, poor communities that rely on each other,” Church explained in a heartfelt video message. “Any time a community needs help, it’s always the community next door that comes running… So we made it our mission at Chief Cares to be the community next door.”

Church urged fans to support the effort by visiting ChiefCares.com, stating, “We’re not just putting up houses; we’re helping people rebuild their lives.” He added, “And we will rebuild western North Carolina.”

Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman’s Surprise Appearance

Keith Urban was among the night’s most anticipated performers, taking the stage with a heartfelt introduction from Eric Church, who called him “one of my favorite musicians.” Urban responded by inviting his wife, Nicole Kidman, to join him on stage.

“Eric called, and here we are,” Kidman said, smiling at the crowd. The couple shared a warm moment as the crowd cheered, and Church joined them to lead the stadium in singing “Happy Birthday” to Urban, who turned 57.

A Special Message from Dolly Parton

In a poignant moment, Marty Smith read a letter from the legendary Dolly Parton, who recently donated $1 million of her own money to support Helene relief efforts. She added another $1 million through Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, which Parton directed to support Carolina residents through Chief Cares.

“Money won’t solve all the pain these floods have caused,” Parton’s statement read, “but maybe it will help some of our people with recovery. It’ll take all of us working together, but we can do it. Love, Dolly.”

Randy Travis: A Hometown Hero’s Return

North Carolina’s own Randy Travis made an emotional appearance with his wife, Mary, who spoke on behalf of the country music icon. Travis, who survived a near-fatal stroke in 2013, smiled and waved as Mary shared a message of hope and resilience.

“Randy always said it was North Carolina he missed the most,” Mary Travis told the crowd. “Tonight, we ask you to say a prayer for those people that lost so much in the storms of life on September the 30th.”

James Taylor Brings ‘Carolina in My Mind’ Home

Famed singer-songwriter James Taylor was a late addition to the lineup, recruited personally by Combs and Church. Taylor’s rendition of his classic “Carolina in My Mind” brought a hush over the stadium, blending nostalgia with unity.

“I’d like to thank Luke and Eric, particularly, for making me part of this tonight and inviting me to join you all here,” Taylor shared.

Luke Combs Reflects on North Carolina’s Strength

Luke Combs, a native of Asheville, closed the night with a powerful set, delivering both country favorites and words of tribute to his home state.

“I knew I wanted everyone to have a good time tonight. But I couldn’t ignore the gravity of the situation we’re all in,” Combs said, his voice thick with emotion. “I have so many friends and family up there on that mountain, and the things I’ve seen and heard are beyond words.”

After Combs and Church performed their hit “Does To Me,” the night ended with a promise: all proceeds would support Samaritan’s Purse, Manna Food Bank, and Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest NC, as well as Chief Cares.

As the final note faded, Combs looked out at the crowd and declared, “We love you, Carolina!”

  1. This event, the performers, the contributers represent “heritage” America. The “heritage” America I served as a soldier, a police officer, and a state emergency services officer. The current Administration is not a representation of, nor a supporter of our”national heritage.” Folks, look at this event, why it was held, and the success it had in providing funding for the victims of our nation’s latest “hurricane” disasters. The outcome of the upcoming national election is critical to the restoration and continuation of that “national heritage.” I love and respect all the positivity this great event created! “GOD Bless” all of you who participated, whatever that participation was. Please, vote and make that vote count for “heritage” America. In GOD We TRUST! May we, as a nation, realize the necessity to return to the “national model” created by our Founding Fathers. If we don’t have a successful effort to transition back to the inclusion of “GOD” as our mentor, protector, and guide, our nation will forfeit the element of our former success “GOD’s Grace.” Again, “GOD Bless” all who participated in this great event.
