Denver Threatens to Deploy Cops Against This Trump Policy

Denver Mayor Mike Johnston has vowed to take an uncompromising stand against President-elect Donald Trump’s pledge for mass deportations. Johnston, a staunch defender of Denver’s sanctuary city status, compared the city’s defiance to the iconic “Tiananmen Square moment” from 1989, when a lone Chinese protester famously stood in front of a tank.

“More than having [federal agents] stationed at the county line to keep them out, you would have 50,000 Denverites there,” Johnston said in an interview with Denverite. “It’s like the Tiananmen Square moment, right? You’d have every one of those Highland moms who came out for the migrants. And you do not want to mess with them.”

Since December 2022, Denver has seen an influx of approximately 40,000 migrants—the largest number per capita in the United States. The surge has tested the city’s resources and brought both opportunities and challenges. While many newcomers are seeking refuge and a better life, officials have linked some crimes to the Venezuelan prison gang, Tren de Aragua.

The gang has reportedly infiltrated areas in Denver and nearby Aurora, taking over apartment complexes and engaging in violent activities. Critics argue that Johnston’s firm stance against federal deportation efforts could exacerbate these issues.

Aurora City Councilwoman Danielle Jurinsky criticized the mayor’s approach, calling it unproductive. “If Mayor Johnston wants to stand at the Denver border with Highland moms, or something to that effect, it will just further show how unproductive he is,” Jurinsky said. She emphasized that while Aurora won’t assist federal immigration officers, her city also won’t obstruct Trump’s plans.

Johnston has made it clear that Denver will remain a sanctuary city under his leadership. “We won’t change that, because those are one of our core values,” Johnston said. “We’re not going to sell out those values to anyone. We’re not going to be bullied into changing them.”

When pressed about whether local law enforcement would cooperate with federal authorities to apprehend migrants, Johnston’s response was firm: “Absolutely not. We won’t do it.”

His rhetoric has sparked controversy. Xi Van Fleet, a survivor of Mao’s revolution in China, condemned Johnston’s comparison to Tiananmen Square, calling it “either profoundly ignorant of the history, or a deliberate false analogy.”

Even Elon Musk, recently appointed by Trump to lead the Department of Government Efficiency, weighed in on social media. Musk tweeted that Johnston’s comments show “the mayor of Denver hates his constituents.”

Trump’s administration appears ready to escalate the battle with sanctuary cities. Tom Homan, Trump’s pick for “border czar,” said the federal government is prepared to sue cities like Denver, cut their federal funding, and deploy Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers.

“If that doesn’t work, we’ll flood those areas with ICE officers who will wait outside local jails for illegal migrants to be released,” Homan explained.

As Johnston and Trump’s team square off, Denver is emerging as a critical battleground in the national debate over immigration policy. With both sides refusing to back down, the Mile High City is set to play a central role in a high-stakes confrontation over sanctuary cities, federal enforcement, and America’s future approach to immigration.

  1. Johnson, seems like your mouth might be writing checks your sorry a** can’t cash! What you don’t grasp is the fact that you’re aiding and abetting criminals and you know you don’t have a snowball’s chance in hell of succeeding in your vendetta against your new president!

  2. The whole country should send all illegal aliens and it’s criminals to Denver. He wants them, he gets them.

  3. That’s Denver for ya.! Sure, just leave those Venezuelan Gangs alone to wreck havoc . I am ashamed to admit I am from Denver Colorado.

  4. Johnson is absolutely the worst mayor in Denver’s history Pena was bad, Webb was bad and many others had flawed character and some were even in the KKK. But they didn’t stand against the federal government. This man has destroyed a great city and sadly there’s too many damn Democrats in the city currently or you would see the city with the sane people wanting to get rid of these illegal criminals. As a 5th generation Denverite I have watched with dismay a flock, herd ,of lemming like Democrats move to Colorado and like a swarm of locust destroy everything good and decent in our city I wish the Feds, correction I pray the Feds arreset this worthless clown for obstruction of justice in sending these “illegal aliens” back to their 4th World hell holes. Want to be in the US do it the right way apply through the channels. Otherwise auf weidersein, aurevoir, via con Dios.

  5. I say that these communist Democrat governors need to learn about consequences of defiantly rebelling against our US Constitution, Bill of Rights and laws. They are not only rebelling against the President but also a majority of American citizens who voted for President Donald Trump and his administration, who will deport all illegals. This is what we voted for and you are obstructing the will of American citizens! After President Trump is sworn in, the moment they defy his deportation orders, arrest them. If that doesn’t work, cut their state off from all federal funds because we don’t want to pay for these illegals. So, the bill must rest on their voters who want this. They want to take care of them, not the rest of USA! They must live with their choices!

  6. Peewee Johnston couldn’t lead ants to a picnic, let alone 50,000 “Denverites”. I bet he can get 50 Karens and crackheads and the Police Union will call him out unless they are fans of the elevated crime level.
Homan will push him aside and if he interferes with the Federal Government when that Government is acting lawfully and Constitutionally, he can go to a Federal Prison. This guy reverted to to 2020 “Resistance!” but it’s not 2020 anymore. People in office like Peewee should be recalled. Colorado GOP should start the process of recalling him for not protecting the people that elected him=dereliction of duty. Even if it isn’t successful, the harassment value cannot be ignored.
Let’s see just how much support he actually has?

  7. Look s like we are going to have to teach some of these fags a lesson. Believe me fag the American taxpayers is feed up with your bullshit.

  8. So the “upper class white moms” in the Highlands are against deporting criminals. Gee, how many of those gang members live in YOUR neighborhood. What is wrong with we while people that we only approve criminality when it is “not in our backyard”. Remember how fast Martha’s VIneyard got rid of the illegals????
