Trump Officially Destroyed Liz Cheney

In a political twist that stunned analysts, former Wyoming Republican Rep. Liz Cheney’s decision to endorse Vice President Kamala Harris ahead of the 2024 election appears to have backfired spectacularly. The move, aimed at damaging President-elect Donald Trump’s campaign, may have instead helped seal his victory in pivotal states like Pennsylvania and Michigan.

Cheney’s endorsement, described by critics as “the iceberg endorsing the Titanic,” drew sharp rebukes from political insiders and voters alike. A new poll by Data for Progress highlights the fallout, revealing how her involvement negatively impacted Harris’ campaign.

Polling Shows Enthusiasm Dropped

According to the poll, Cheney’s alliance with Harris was deeply unpopular among key demographics. Nearly 30% of independent voters in Pennsylvania said her endorsement made them less enthusiastic about supporting Harris. The results were similar in Michigan, with independents showing reduced enthusiasm when Cheney joined the campaign.

“The Cheney endorsement made nearly 3-in-10 independent Pennsylvania voters less enthusiastic about Harris’ campaign,” the polling firm reported.

The analysis pointed to a strategic misstep. Instead of focusing on a populist economic message that resonated with voters, Harris spent critical campaign days alongside Cheney. This, according to the report, diverted attention from the issues voters cared about most: the economy and rising costs.

Trump’s Populist Focus

Meanwhile, Trump zeroed in on kitchen-table issues like inflation, corporate price gouging, and Medicare expansion. His messaging struck a chord, with many voters viewing him as the “change candidate.”

“Trump’s voters expect him to expand Medicare, increase taxes on billionaires, and address corporate greed,” the poll found. “This focus on economic pain helped him make gains in Pennsylvania and Michigan.”

In Pennsylvania, independents were 18 points more enthusiastic about Harris when she emphasized economic policies. But enthusiasm dropped by 7 points when Cheney entered the picture, marking a 25-point swing. Similar patterns emerged in Michigan.

Cheney’s Role Under Scrutiny

Critics argue Cheney’s involvement alienated both independents and moderate Republicans, two groups Harris desperately needed to win over. The polling firm noted that 70% of voters in the two states said Cheney’s presence either made no difference or reduced their enthusiasm for Harris.

“By wide margins, Pennsylvania and Michigan voters ranked the economy as their top issue,” the report said. “Harris’ decision to campaign with Cheney may have diluted her economic message, costing her key support.”

Cheney’s Statement Sparks Debate

After Trump’s win, Cheney issued a statement urging Americans to accept the results and defend democracy.

“Our nation’s democratic system functioned last night, and we have a new president-elect,” Cheney wrote. “All Americans are bound, whether we like the outcome or not, to accept the results of our elections.”

The statement received mixed reactions. MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski read it aloud during a segment on Morning Joe, noting Cheney’s call for unity and adherence to the Constitution.

“We now have a special responsibility as citizens of the greatest nation on Earth to preserve the rule of law and ensure our institutions hold,” Cheney’s statement continued.

Lessons for the Future

Harris’ campaign, though centered on popular economic policies, struggled to persuade voters she could deliver the change they sought. The Data for Progress report suggests her platform was well-received, even among Trump voters, but the Cheney collaboration undermined her momentum.

Looking ahead, the findings highlight opportunities for progressive, populist policies in future elections. For now, Trump’s win underscores how central the economy was in shaping voter decisions — and how costly missteps can be.

  1. Cheney’s best bet since she keeps stepping in one pile after another is, step aside! You can’t find your way through the political quagmire, your lost and irrelevant!

  2. All the Dems, the RINOS, and media are full of crap. While Cheney may have turned the outcome marginally, your article (imo falsely) implies that Kamala\’s campaign was sitting pretty until she incorporated Cheney. I totally disagree, and call this claim delusional! Kamala tried to hide from any exposure, didn\’t do any real interviews or press conferences, had no plans, no remedies for the failed Biden/Harris policies that she stated \” she couldn\’t think of one thing she would do differently\” HUH? – They created the biggest disaster in modern political history, and she wouldn\’t do anything differently!! WOW! She was a failed, and the least popular VP in modern times. A true poster child for why DEI is a stupid, non-viable solution!!

  3. …report suggest her (Harris) platform was well received, even among Trump voters..” On what planet? We might have been in agreement with her running on the economy because her position was so horrible, but there would have been no agreement.

  4. What is wrong with Liz Cheney? She seams to act like a woman scorned then anything political! It’s all to personal for her.
