First Video of Harris Since Election Loss Goes Viral

In the wake of the 2024 presidential election, Vice President Kamala Harris shared a video message that left many social media users puzzled—and some outright critical. Posted on the Democratic Party’s official X account Tuesday, the video was Harris’ first public address to her supporters after conceding to President-elect Donald Trump.

In the short clip, Harris appeared resolute, speaking directly to those disheartened by the election outcome.

“I just have to remind you, don’t let anybody take your power from you,” she said. “You have the same power that you did before Nov. 5, and you have the same purpose that you did. And you have the same ability to engage and inspire. So don’t ever let anybody or any circumstance take your power from you.”

Social Media Backlash

Instead of galvanizing her base, the video ignited a storm of criticism. Commenters zeroed in on Harris’ demeanor, describing it as “off” and questioning why such a video was approved for release.

Kimberly Ross, a contributor to the DC Examiner, tweeted, “Is this a… joke? It’s a terrible video. Yikes.”

Fox News contributor Joe Concha quipped, “I’m not sure you guys want to be amplifying this. There’s something, ummmm, off with the vice president.”

Even conservative columnist Mary Katharine Ham took aim, suggesting the video’s production was careless. “When you hand your phone to someone to police your social media posts… you wanna hand it to someone who likes you,” she wrote.

Dan McLaughlin of National Review Online offered a stinging critique, claiming, “No video like this would ever have been released by a politician who is not hated by her staff.”

What Was the Goal?

Harris reportedly filmed the video as part of a virtual call with donors and volunteers earlier that day. It was her first public acknowledgment of the election loss. While the message was likely intended to rally her supporters, critics on both sides of the aisle questioned its effectiveness and tone.

“Who thought this was a good idea?” wondered Atlantic writer Tyler Austin Harper. “What is this for? What is she even saying?”

Adding to the skepticism, National Review correspondent Jim Geraghty criticized the message itself. “The theme ‘don’t let anyone take your power from you’ is perhaps less than ideal as a message during the peaceful transfer of power,” he wrote.

A Tough Moment for the Vice President

The fallout from the video highlights the challenging position Harris finds herself in following the election. Her concession came after weeks of heated campaigning and amid swirling narratives about her reluctance to participate in high-profile interviews.

American Principles Project president Terry Schilling summed up the sentiment among critics with a facepalm emoji, posting, “They wouldn’t let her go on @joerogan but they let her do this.”

Former Trump White House adviser Ben Williamson perhaps captured the mood best, saying, “I’d read a 5,000-word article on how this got approved for release.”

A Misstep or a Call to Action?

Whether the video will resonate with her supporters or be remembered as a political misstep remains to be seen. As Harris faces scrutiny from all sides, her next moves could determine how she rebounds from a challenging post-election moment.

    1. Penile implant shifted to the brain? This is NOT a red nation. To be a red nation you have to pay 85% of every federal tax $1. All red states receive 85% of that federal tax $1. 37 red states get a return of that $1 of $2 up to So, Carolina’s $2,87 meaning they pay zero federal taxes. What happens if Dem states decide enough is enough and call a tax strike? The Constituition provides for equal rights between the states and Fed. If we collect federal taxes in Dem sates, we can as easily keep it in OUR statesas and let your red nation 37 go belly up. Who care?

Wise asses finish last. Bossy schitts end up like all bullies do: red asses from people fed up.

Dem states have all the money power. Moocher red states only have jobs in federallty funded industires. Always crying poverty, even when they get 855 of every federal tax $1? who’s BSing whom?
