Owner Says Leftists Are ‘At War With God’ — Not Just Him
In the heart of a city that prides itself on tolerance, a Christian man trying to help the homeless is being targeted not for failing—but for believing.
Jamie Sanchez, a Hispanic small business owner and devout Christian, opened The Drip Café in 2023 with one mission: help people get off the streets, kick addiction, and find dignity through faith and hard work.
But his act of compassion is now under attack by radical left-wing activists who have turned his café into ground zero for protests, vandalism, and personal harassment.
“They didn’t even wait for us to open before accusing us of being anti-gay,” Sanchez told us. “They saw we were Christian and decided we were the enemy.”
Sanchez began his ministry, Recycle God’s Love, in 2012 alongside his late wife Carolyn, who died of cancer in 2018. What started as simple street outreach has grown into a full-blown operation providing meals, haircuts, clothing, and spiritual support to Denver’s most vulnerable.
In 2022, Sanchez launched Project Revive—a faith-based rehabilitation program that helps homeless individuals find housing, employment, and purpose through Christian discipleship. Many of those who complete the program go on to work at The Drip Café, where Sanchez mentors them personally.
“It’s not about coffee,” he said. “It’s about hope.”
Despite the success stories, The Drip Café became a lightning rod for controversy almost overnight. Protesters affiliated with a far-left group calling themselves the Denver Communists have been showing up monthly—carrying signs, shouting slurs, and accusing Sanchez of “hate.”
“We’ve been accused of being a ‘right-wing hate church’ just for quoting the Bible,” Sanchez said. “But we’ve never turned anyone away. We serve everyone.”
The group’s outrage stems from Recycle God’s Love listing homosexuality as a sin—something Sanchez says is clearly stated in Scripture and is no different than listing adultery or lying.
“They don’t want tolerance,” he added. “They want submission.”
The so-called “inclusive” protesters have allegedly harassed elderly Christian women, screamed at a blind Black DJ, and left threatening messages—including a spray-painted image of a KKK lynching on the café’s front door.
“I’m a brown-skinned Hispanic,” Sanchez pointed out. “For them to call me a Nazi is beyond parody.”
His windows have been shattered, property vandalized, and slogans like “Keep Santa Fe Gay” slapped across his storefront. The city has offered no meaningful protection.
So Sanchez fought back the only way he knows how—by hosting live worship nights at the café.
“We drown out their noise with praise,” he said. “It’s spiritual warfare.”
Despite the attacks, Sanchez says he holds no hatred in his heart.
“I’ve offered them coffee, food. I’ve prayed for them while they scream in my face,” he said. “They tell me to kill myself, and I tell them, ‘Jesus loves you.’”
While the Denver Communists claim the protests are about “queer liberation” and accuse Sanchez of “profiting off Christianity,” the real reason seems painfully clear.
“They don’t want Christians in public life unless we keep quiet,” Sanchez said. “But I won’t be silent. I’m not ashamed of the gospel.”
The attacks on The Drip Café echo a growing trend across the country, where Christian businesses and ministries are being punished for refusing to bow to progressive orthodoxy. From drag protests in schools to faith-based camps facing legal threats, the message from the left is clear: believe what you want—as long as it’s not biblical.
“The protesters have said this is part of their broader fight against Trump and his supporters,” Sanchez said. “But this isn’t political. This is spiritual.”
President Trump, now in his second term, has repeatedly defended religious freedom and faith-based outreach programs like Sanchez’s. Conservative leaders are urging states to protect ministries like Recycle God’s Love from targeted harassment.
“They’re not just against me,” Sanchez said. “They’re against God. And God doesn’t lose.”
For now, The Drip Café remains open—serving coffee, offering second chances, and standing firm in the face of hate.
And Jamie Sanchez? He’s not backing down. Not now. Not ever.
“They wanted to break us,” he said. “But we were built on the Rock.”
