Former Ohio State football star and ex-team captain Jordan Hall has been arrested after a brutal late-night attack at a Columbus gas station that left a man fighting for his life.
Police say the 34-year-old former Buckeyes running back dragged a passenger out of a car just after 1 a.m. on Saturday before unleashing a savage beating. Surveillance footage allegedly shows Hall yanking the victim onto the pavement and repeatedly punching him in the head.
When the man tried to stand, Hall reportedly returned to strike him again, knocking him flat and causing his head to slam against the ground. Officers arrived to find the victim unconscious with serious head trauma. He was rushed to Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in critical condition.
Authorities revealed that the attack was so violent homicide detectives were brought in to assist the investigation.
Hall, who grinned broadly in his mugshot despite the grim charges, has been charged with felonious assault.
Hall played for Ohio State from 2009 to 2013, serving as a captain during his senior season before injuries cut short his time on the field. While once praised as a versatile player, he never made it to the NFL.
After graduating with a degree in finance, Hall moved into business ventures, including real estate and management.
Now, the former Buckeye is awaiting his first court appearance on Monday, as the community reels over the shocking fall of a once-celebrated athlete.

When I was a kid, athletic stars were used to inspire the young. While that’s still the same case for some athletes, far too many just end up with mug shots today.
