The Cuomo dynasty is in full-blown collapse — and this time, it’s personal.
Disgraced former CNN anchor Chris Cuomo and his embattled brother, ex-New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, are no longer on speaking terms, insiders tell Patriot Ledger. Their once-inseparable bond has been shattered by betrayal, bruised egos, and a shared fall from grace that neither seems willing to forgive.
“There’s no trust. No forgiveness. No future. Just silence and resentment,” said a former Cuomo family confidant. “It’s like a mafia feud — without the loyalty.”
The Cuomo name was once synonymous with power in blue-state politics. But after back-to-back scandals wrecked both their careers, the family’s fall from elite liberal royalty to political outcasts has become a cautionary tale.
In 2021, then-Governor Andrew Cuomo, 67, was forced to resign in disgrace following multiple sexual harassment allegations — charges he has vigorously denied. But the damage was done.
Just months later, younger brother Chris Cuomo, 55, was fired from CNN after internal investigations revealed he secretly worked behind the scenes to help Andrew craft a response to the allegations — leveraging media contacts and offering strategic counsel while still presenting himself as an “objective” journalist.
“Chris blames Andrew for dragging him into the mud,” said one source familiar with the CNN fallout. “He didn’t just lose a job — he lost his reputation, his salary, and his future in mainstream media.”
Chris was reportedly earning $6 million per year at CNN. Now he hosts a prime-time slot on NewsNation, a network with a fraction of the audience and none of the prestige.
According to multiple insiders, the tension has only escalated as Andrew Cuomo attempts a political resurrection — this time running for mayor of New York City in 2025. But don’t expect to see him pop up on Chris’s show anytime soon.
“Andrew is furious Chris hasn’t used his platform to boost the campaign,” said a Democratic consultant. “He sees it as disloyal. He thinks Chris owes him.”
Meanwhile, Chris is equally bitter — and sources say he sees Andrew’s mayoral bid as a political vanity project that drags the family name back through the mud.
“He won’t endorse it. He won’t mention it. He won’t touch it,” the insider added. “It’s not just politics anymore. It’s personal.”
Behind the scenes, the battle has turned even colder. Chris was not invited to attend the official campaign launch in Queens last month, and Andrew reportedly ignored Chris’s private request for a sit-down — despite repeated attempts to bury the hatchet.
A spokesperson for Andrew denied any conflict, but sources say the feud is worse than ever.
“Chris helped Andrew during the scandal. And what did it cost him? Everything,” said one source close to the family. “And now Andrew won’t even return his calls? That’s a slap in the face.”
“They used to be each other’s biggest allies. Now, they’re practically enemies,” the source added. “There’s no room for Chris in Andrew’s administration — and no interest from Chris in rebuilding what’s already broken.”
Andrew’s comeback campaign comes at a pivotal moment in New York politics, as Trump’s second term continues to reshape the national landscape. Republicans have made deep inroads into traditionally blue urban areas — including Staten Island and parts of Queens — and Cuomo’s old-school liberal brand may no longer hold the sway it once did.
“Andrew Cuomo thinks he’s still the king of New York,” said GOP strategist Tanya Reynolds. “But he’s stuck in the past. Voters want results, not recycled scandals.”
Chris, for his part, has avoided the spotlight — save for a few carefully controlled interviews and tepid political commentary on NewsNation. Insiders say he’s still licking his wounds and calculating his next move, which likely won’t include any family cameos.
The Cuomo brothers were once the golden sons of the Democratic elite. Now they’re a political cautionary tale — torn apart by scandal, ego, and ambition. And as 2025 unfolds, don’t expect a reunion anytime soon.
“They’re done,” said one source flatly. “This family is fractured beyond repair.”
