Another heated moment erupted on The View after Joy Behar made a jaw-dropping claim about Jesus that even her own co-hosts could not let slide.
The fiery exchange unfolded during a discussion about President Donald Trump’s latest controversy involving an AI-generated image that critics accused of making him look like a holy figure. The image, which showed Trump in flowing robes with bright light appearing to shine from his hands, sparked predictable outrage from his critics, especially on the left. But the conversation quickly took a turn when Behar tried to make a broader point and ended up getting corrected on the spot.
As the panel debated the image and Trump’s ongoing tensions with Pope Leo XIV, co-host Sara Haines brought up biblical warnings about false prophets. Referencing Scripture, Haines pointed to passages in Matthew and Mark where Jesus warns his disciples not to be deceived by those falsely claiming to be the Christ and performing signs and wonders. Haines argued that Trump’s critics see the image as feeding into that kind of messianic symbolism.
Sunny Hostin piled on, claiming some Trump supporters have treated him like a savior figure and calling him a “false prophet.” But then Behar jumped in with a statement that immediately sparked backlash at the table.
“Jesus himself did not run around saying, ‘I’m the Messiah, I’m the Messiah!’” Behar said.
That did not sit well with her co-hosts. Haines fired back instantly, telling Behar that was exactly what Jesus said. Behar refused to back down and insisted otherwise, while also taking a shot at Trump by saying Jesus was not narcissistic “like this guy.”
Haines wasn’t having it.
“When you are the Messiah, it’s not narcissism to say it!” she shot back, creating one of the tensest moments of the segment.
The exchange got so heated that Whoopi Goldberg stepped in to move the conversation along before it spiraled even further. Still, the damage was done. What started as another anti-Trump panel discussion suddenly turned into an on-air dispute over a basic Christian belief, with Behar getting corrected in real time by her own colleagues.
The controversy began after Trump shared the AI image on social media, prompting immediate outrage from critics who accused him of trying to compare himself to Christ. Trump pushed back on that narrative, saying the image was not meant to portray him as the Messiah at all. Instead, he said it was meant to depict him “as a doctor.” The post was later deleted, but not before it set off a media frenzy.
Goldberg dismissed Trump’s explanation outright, saying nobody believed he was portraying a doctor. She also used the moment to praise the Pope’s role as a moral voice pushing world leaders toward peace. Alyssa Farah Griffin added to that point by quoting Jesus’ line, “Blessed are the peacemakers.”
But for many viewers, the real headline was not Trump’s image. It was Behar’s stunning claim about Jesus and the immediate rebuke she got from the rest of the table. In a segment clearly meant to slam Trump, it was Behar who ended up taking the hardest hit.
