Progressive Congresswoman Slammed for Explosive Comments (Video)

A fiery old clip of Rep. Ilhan Omar has come roaring back into the spotlight — and conservatives across the country are calling it exactly what it is: dangerous, divisive, and un-American.

The 2018 footage, originally aired on Al-Jazeera, shows the Minnesota Democrat declaring that “our country should be more fearful of White men” — comments that critics say amount to open racial hostility and, in the words of Vice President JD Vance, “genocidal language.”

“If fear was the driving force of policies to keep Americans safe, we should be profiling, monitoring, and creating policies to fight the radicalization of White men,” Omar said during the interview, while discussing domestic terrorism.

The comments, now circulating again thanks to high-traffic conservative accounts like Libs of TikTok and Laura Loomer, have ignited a new political firestorm, prompting fierce rebukes from GOP leadership, conservative pundits, and even members of the White House.

JD Vance: ‘Genocidal Language’ from a Sitting Member of Congress

Vice President JD Vance didn’t mince words.

“This isn’t just sick; it’s actually genocidal language,” Vance wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “What a disgrace this person is.”

GOP Senator Mike Lee joined the chorus: “This is blatant racism. Who condemns it?”

House Majority Whip Tom Emmer, a fellow Minnesotan, weighed in sharply: “@IlhanMN never ceases to be an embarrassment for Minnesota.”

“There’s never been a more anti-American member of Congress than Ilhan Omar,” added conservative commentator Paul Szypula.

Omar Defends Herself — and Fires Back

Omar’s office pointed the media to her social media response, where she defended her remarks as referencing white nationalism statistics from the Anti-Defamation League.

“In this nearly 8-year-old clip, I am referring to the rise of white nationalism…,” Omar wrote, citing a report that said white supremacists were responsible for 78% of “extremist-related murders.”

But she didn’t stop there — attacking Vance directly and accusing him of hypocrisy over his support for Israel.

“PS: You should look up what ‘genocidal’ actually means when you’re actively supporting a genocide taking place in Gaza,” Omar added.

Not the First Time Omar’s Remarks Raised Eyebrows

The resurfaced clip comes just days after Omar went viral again — this time for cursing out a reporter from the Daily Caller who asked her a question about Democrats defending a criminal illegal immigrant deported to El Salvador.

“I said what I said. You and all your miserable trolls can f— off,” she posted after the clip spread online.

The timing couldn’t be worse for Democrats. With the 2026 midterms on the horizon and border security, race relations, and foreign policy dominating headlines, Omar’s unapologetic rhetoric is giving Republicans fresh ammunition to frame her — and the progressive wing of the party — as openly hostile to American values.

Background: A Pattern of Controversy

Rep. Omar, a Somali-born Muslim and one of the first two Muslim women elected to Congress, has built a reputation for controversial statements — from blaming U.S. foreign policy for global terrorism, to downplaying 9/11 as “some people did something.”

In 2019, she faced bipartisan criticism for antisemitic tropes in her tweets. In 2023, she accused ICE agents of “terrorizing” communities. In 2024, she blamed Trump’s America for “racialized death policies.”

For many conservatives, this latest clip is just another example of what they see as a pattern of radicalism that has no place in Congress.

“It’s time voters wake up,” said retired U.S. Army Col. Allen West. “This isn’t just a rogue politician. This is a worldview that wants to dismantle everything America stands for.”
