Democrat Candidate Dragged Out Screaming After Meltdown in Texas Capitol (Video)

Chaos erupted in the Texas Capitol on Thursday night as a fiery redistricting hearing descended into a political spectacle — and a physical confrontation — when a Democrat congressional hopeful launched a tirade against Republicans and President Trump before being dragged out by security.

Isaiah Martin, the Democrat running for Texas’ 18th Congressional District, was forcibly removed and briefly arrested after refusing to yield the microphone during a redistricting committee hearing. Martin’s angry outburst and eventual removal by sergeants played out before a stunned audience, who watched the spectacle unfold like something out of a protest rally rather than a public policy discussion.

Martin, 26, began his testimony by questioning the legitimacy of the redistricting process. But within moments, the hearing devolved into a shouting match. Martin accused Republican lawmakers of “rigging the game” and gerrymandering districts at President Donald Trump’s personal request.

“You gotta get Trump’s endorsement — that’s the name of the game to be a Republican nowadays!” he shouted. “Trump told every single one of you that he needs five seats… there will be retaliation for that!”

Committee Chair Rep. Cody Vasut attempted to bring order to the proceedings, but Martin refused to stop.

“No, I’m not going to finish. Because I’m NOT finished!” Martin bellowed.

When sergeants-at-arms approached, Martin launched into a final tirade against the 47th President of the United States, now serving his second term.

“You can thank your failed, senile, dilapidated, Epstein-partying-with president for all of the work that we’re about to do to every single one of you,” he screamed as he was restrained.

Audience members gasped as Martin collapsed while being pulled from the room, prompting some to shout “Get off of him!” Martin’s final words before being dragged out: “America will rise up against you!”

He was charged with criminal trespass, resisting arrest, and disrupting a public meeting — though charges were dropped the next day after his release from Travis County Jail. He later posted a video on X vowing to “keep fighting” and accusing Republicans of “erasing democracy.”

President Trump has openly called for Republican-led state legislatures to secure five additional House seats through redistricting — a move critics claim is political hardball and supporters say is long overdue.

“This is about restoring common sense and conservative representation in places where the left has manipulated coalition districts for years,” said Rep. Vasut after the hearing. “We’re following the law, and we’re correcting a map that was never constitutional in the first place.”

Texas Governor Greg Abbott has previously stated the redistricting push is in direct response to federal court rulings that struck down certain coalition-based districts. While Democrats scream gerrymandering, Republicans argue they’re finally undoing years of demographic manipulation designed to benefit progressive candidates in cities like Houston and Austin.

A recent DOJ memo flagged TX-18 — the very district Martin hopes to represent — as one of four seats under review for unconstitutional racial redistricting. The redistricting effort is widely expected to reshape the House map just in time for 2026 midterms, potentially solidifying Republican control.

Martin’s eruption is just the latest example of what many conservatives see as a left-wing meltdown over losing political ground in deep-blue urban districts. His tantrum mirrors rhetoric from national Democrats like Beto O’Rourke and California Governor Gavin Newsom, both of whom have encouraged their party to “play hardball” with redistricting in their own states.

“This is the Democrat playbook now — scream racism, stage a meltdown, and cry foul when they lose the majority,” said GOP strategist Lane Matthews. “Martin isn’t a serious candidate. He’s a loud one.”

Redistricting hearings are set to continue Saturday in Houston and Monday in Arlington, with GOP lawmakers showing no signs of backing down. The Texas House is expected to release its final map by mid-August.

With Trump back in the White House and a Republican majority on the line, Texas is becoming ground zero in the fight over redistricting — and Democrats like Isaiah Martin are showing just how desperate they are to hold onto power.
