Actress Admits She Had ‘Trump Derangement Syndrome’ — Now Credits President Trump for Gaza Peace Deal

“I had TDS and I’m now eating my words,” the British star confessed, after Trump’s historic peace breakthrough ended the Gaza war.

British actress Frances Barber — once one of Hollywood and the BBC’s most outspoken Trump critics — is publicly reversing course after President Donald Trump secured what world leaders are calling a “miracle” peace agreement between Israel and Hamas.

Barber, known for her work on Doctor Who and the West End stage, shocked her followers Monday when she posted on X: “I had TDS and I’m now eating my words,” referencing the term “Trump Derangement Syndrome.” Her message accompanied a photo showing the words “Thank You Trump” written in the sand along Tel Aviv’s coast — an image that has gone viral across social media.

When a fan asked what “TDS” meant, Barber didn’t hesitate to clarify: “Trump Derangement Syndrome. And I had it bad.”

Until this week, Barber had been among the loudest voices in Britain’s entertainment world condemning Trump. In 2023, she called the president a “convicted criminal” and said he “belonged in prison with his bestie Steve Bannon.”

But Barber says the dramatic release of Israeli hostages and Trump’s decisive diplomacy changed everything. “The news of the hostages coming home brought tears to my eyes,” she wrote Sunday, before the peace deal was officially announced. “But none of the women remain — that’s too awful for words.”

On Monday, Israeli officials confirmed that after more than two years in captivity, every surviving hostage had been returned as part of Trump’s brokered exchange between Israel and Hamas. The deal freed 20 living Israeli hostages in exchange for 2,000 Palestinian prisoners, ending years of bloodshed and paving the way for a U.S.-led rebuilding effort in Gaza.

President Trump received rare bipartisan praise this week — including from his political rivals. Vice President Kamala Harris released a statement praising “the president’s leadership in the Middle East,” though she conspicuously did not mention Trump by name.

Even the Clintons weighed in. A source close to former President Bill Clinton told reporters that he considered Trump’s deal “a remarkable achievement,” while Hillary Clinton reportedly described it as “a step toward lasting stability.”

Meanwhile, on MSNBC’s Morning Joe, presidential historian Jon Meacham — who once advised President Biden — admitted that Trump had done something “few thought possible.”

“This is a victory for President Trump,” Meacham said. “For those who believe America can still lead not by force, but by the power of persuasion and civilized norms.”

Conservative commentator Marc Thiessen called it “one of the greatest political comebacks in modern history,” noting how Trump went from being mocked for his fast-food photo ops in 2023 to brokering an unprecedented ceasefire in 2025.

“Only Trump could go from McDonald’s to Middle East peace,” Thiessen quipped during a Fox News segment. “The foreign policy elite laughed at him — and now they’re taking notes.”

Even Jake Sullivan, former National Security Adviser under President Biden, told CNN he had to give credit where it was due. “Of course he deserves credit,” Sullivan said. “I give credit to President Trump, to Steve Witkoff, Jared Kushner, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio. They got it done.”

On Monday night, Trump addressed the Israeli Knesset in Jerusalem, just hours after the last hostages were released. Standing before lawmakers and families of victims, he declared, “Peace is never perfect, but it is always worth it. And today, we’ve proven the impossible is possible again.”

As Barber’s post continued to trend, American conservatives seized on her admission as proof that Trump’s record is winning over even his former critics. “If Hollywood can wake up,” one user wrote, “maybe there’s hope for the rest of the world.”

  1. Everyone wants these problems to be fixed in the blink of an eye. Trump is but one person doing what he can as fast as possible. He has been in office under one year. Could you do any better?
