President Donald Trump ignited headlines again this week after declaring he “ended eight wars” during his time in office — a boast that drew outrage from liberal commentators but cheers from supporters who say it proves his America First foreign policy is still reshaping the world.
During a press briefing at the White House on Wednesday, Trump was asked about his next planned meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. He quickly pivoted to a signature topic — his legacy as a dealmaker and global negotiator.
“I know about deals,” Trump said. “I don’t think any president’s ever ended a war, frankly — not one. I did eight of them.”
The president then turned his fire on his 2020 opponent. “Did Bush ever end a war? Did Biden? No. Biden started wars because he was stupid. Everybody knows it. He made the world more dangerous.”
Trump’s remarks triggered an immediate backlash on social media. Progressive users flooded X (formerly Twitter), calling the statement “delusional” and labeling the president “Dementia Donnie.”
One user sneered, “He can’t end the war in Ukraine, which he said he could do in a day,” while another wrote, “At what point did we say an orange narcissist who cries online gets credit for peace?”
Conservative influencers fired back, pointing to the president’s record of withdrawing troops, pressuring NATO to share the defense burden, and mediating historic peace deals between Israel and several Arab nations.
“Liberals laughed when Trump said he’d bring peace through strength,” said veteran political commentator Dinesh D’Souza. “Now they mock him for saying exactly what he accomplished.”
While critics called his “eight wars” claim exaggerated, analysts note Trump oversaw major de-escalations across multiple conflict zones during his first term.
Between 2017 and 2021, U.S. troop levels dropped dramatically in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Syria, while Trump pushed for normalization deals between Israel and countries including the UAE, Bahrain, and Morocco — agreements many in Washington viewed as groundbreaking.
Former Pentagon official and Trump adviser Col. Doug Macgregor told Fox News, “What the president meant was that he stopped America from launching new wars and wound down endless ones — something no one in Washington had the guts to do before him.”
The renewed attention also reignited rumors about Trump’s physical condition.
Earlier this year, unnamed sources claimed the president was “dealing with more pain than he admits publicly,” alleging ongoing hip and knee issues.
“He’s proud, he’s tough, and he doesn’t like to show weakness,” said one person close to the administration. “But you can see he’s not moving quite like he used to.”
White House staffers, however, dismissed any speculation about the president’s health or mental acuity.
“Deranged liberals are fabricating lies because they can’t stand that President Trump is back in charge and stronger than ever,” campaign spokesman Steven Cheung said Thursday. “They suffer from Trump Derangement Syndrome — and it’s eating them alive.”
Since returning to office in 2025, Trump has prioritized a message of “Peace Through Strength,” promising to restore order abroad and stop what he calls “America’s era of weakness” under Biden.
His allies say this latest controversy only proves that the establishment media will twist anything to undermine him.
“He’s the first president in modern history to avoid dragging us into another foreign disaster,” said conservative strategist Steve Bannon. “If that drives the left crazy, good — it means he’s doing something right.”
Trump’s fiery “eight wars” remark may have sent his critics into overdrive, but for millions of supporters, it was classic Trump — blunt, confident, and unwilling to play by the D.C. rulebook.
As one rally-goer in Pennsylvania told Fox & Friends Thursday morning, “Say what you want about the man — but when Trump talks about peace, the world listens.”
