Sean “Diddy” Combs was reportedly rushed from a New Jersey federal prison in the middle of the night after suffering a mysterious head injury, raising fresh questions about the disgraced music mogul’s life behind bars.
The 56-year-old rapper, who is serving a 50-month federal prison sentence, was transported by ambulance from the Federal Correctional Institution at Fort Dix around 1 a.m. on Saturday, October 10, according to TMZ.
Sources at the prison told the outlet that Combs needed medical attention for an undisclosed head injury. However, the circumstances surrounding the injury remain unclear.
Despite the emergency, the former Bad Boy Records founder was reportedly conscious and able to speak when he returned to the prison before sunrise, less than six hours after leaving.
The injury was not believed to be life-threatening.
Combs’ representatives acknowledged the reports Monday but stopped short of confirming exactly what happened.
“We are aware of the reports concerning Sean Combs and are working to confirm the circumstances,” a representative told the Los Angeles Times. “Sean’s health and well-being are our immediate concern, and we appreciate everyone who has reached out.”
Prison officials have not publicly explained how Combs was injured or whether the incident involved another inmate. There is currently no confirmed evidence that he was assaulted.
The medical emergency comes amid growing scrutiny of the rapper’s time at Fort Dix, where he has reportedly faced disciplinary problems and allegations of receiving special treatment.
In July, Combs was reportedly involved in an altercation with another inmate. More recently, reports surfaced alleging that he had access to prohibited items and unusual privileges inside the facility.
According to an NBC News investigation, the rapper allegedly paid fellow inmates to cook special meals, clean his living area and provide massages.
Additional reports suggested he had access to alcohol and a contraband cellphone, both prohibited under federal prison regulations.
Combs’ representatives have disputed allegations of improper treatment, maintaining that he is serving his sentence in accordance with prison rules.
Amid the controversy, the rapper was reportedly placed in a special housing unit, commonly associated with disciplinary segregation or other security measures.
The Federal Bureau of Prisons has not publicly confirmed whether the latest medical incident was connected to any previous disciplinary matter.
Combs has been incarcerated since his arrest in September 2024, when federal prosecutors charged him in a widely publicized criminal case involving allegations of sex trafficking and racketeering.
In July 2025, a New York jury found him guilty of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. He was acquitted of the more serious federal racketeering and sex-trafficking charges.
A judge subsequently sentenced him to 50 months in federal prison, along with a $500,000 fine and five years of supervised release.
Combs was initially held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn before being transferred to Fort Dix in October 2025.
His legal team had requested the transfer partly because the New Jersey facility offered access to a residential drug treatment program and more favorable opportunities for family visitation.
However, his expected release date has changed several times.
Earlier this month, federal prison records showed that Combs’ projected release had been pushed back from January 21, 2028, to March 2, 2028.
The change followed reports about his alleged prison privileges, although officials have not publicly established that those allegations directly caused the latest adjustment.
Combs is also continuing to challenge his criminal conviction while facing numerous civil lawsuits involving allegations of sexual misconduct, which he has denied.
For now, the circumstances of his latest medical emergency remain a mystery.
While reports indicate he was able to return to prison within hours, neither his representatives nor federal officials have disclosed how he suffered the head injury or what treatment he received.
The incident adds another unexpected development to the once-powerful music executive’s increasingly troubled time behind bars.
