Ford Recalls 115K Trucks Over Terrifying Defect

Ford has announced another massive recall—this time involving more than 115,000 of its heavy-duty pickup trucks—over a dangerous defect that could cause drivers to lose control of their vehicles.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), certain 2020–2021 F-250, F-350, and F-450 models contain a faulty steering column component that can detach, leaving drivers unable to steer. Regulators warn this defect poses a serious crash risk.

In total, 115,539 trucks are being recalled under Ford’s reference number 25S94.

Dealers will inspect and repair, or if necessary, replace the steering column’s upper shaft free of charge. Ford says initial owner notification letters will be mailed beginning October 6, with a final fix expected by December 2025.

This recall follows several recent safety issues for the automaker. Earlier this year, Ford recalled 1.9 million vehicles worldwide due to faulty rearview cameras that could display blank or distorted images, and more than 355,000 trucks were recalled over dashboard display problems.

The recall impacts Ford’s most popular heavy-duty models, a cornerstone of its U.S. truck business. Owners can check if their vehicle is included by searching its VIN on the NHTSA recall website.

  1. The sad thing is the direct mechanical link from the steering wheel and the front wheels has been replaced by computer connections, and when these fail, steering fails. The solution is to go back to the old system, and let the AI crap govern systems that aren’t needed to drive.
